ANTARIS small wind turbines

Information on
ANTARIS small wind turbines

The ANTARIS wind turbine is a small wind turbine that is ideal for inland locations. It has been specially designed for mains-parallel operation, battery charging (24 V/48 V.) and heating support . Due to its very robust and well thought-out construction, the ANTARIS wind turbine is also suitable for storm areas, optionally with different repeller diameters (2.30m – 6.50m).

The repeller blades have a computer-aided aerodynamic profile and are manufactured using the hand lamination process. Of course, each sheet is balanced both dynamically and statically and provided with an identification number, combined with appropriate documentation.

The drive system of the ANTARIS small wind turbines follows a simple logic: a few rotating components reduce the mechanical load and increase the technical service life. Maintenance and service costs are reduced (including fewer wear parts, no transmission oil change) and operating costs are reduced. The rotor hub and permanent magnet generator are directly connected to each other as a fixed unit without a gearbox. The rotor unit is mounted on a rotating axis with a high-strength material. Compared to conventional gearboxes with numerous bearing points in the moving drive train, the ANTARIS small wind turbine gets by with two relatively slow-running roller bearings.

The same motto applies to the tipping unit, which is activated only with the help of the wind and therefore works absolutely wear-free. For safety, the ANTARIS small wind turbine has installed two high-quality stainless steel dampers that secure the respective end stop. The steels used are all provided with a test certificate, which documents the steel quality. The weld seams are carried out exclusively by certified welders. After the production of raw parts, all steel parts are galvanized at high temperature. This zinc process has clear advantages in corrosion protection compared to conventional (hot-dip galvanizing) zinc processes. Through high-temperature galvanizing, we offer you the most effective method of corrosion protection of all parts that are responsible for safety and are exposed to harsh weather conditions during work under heavy loads.

The ANTARIS small wind turbines are manufactured to the highest level in order to achieve a technical service life of 20 years and more. However, since we do not want to be satisfied with this, there is constant further development in order to set new standards in the field of small wind turbines in the future.

Fit for the future with
ANTARIS small wind turbines

With the uncomplicated assembly structure, emphasis was placed on quick assembly by hand. The ANTARIS small wind turbine works very effectively due to its robust construction and is not only very inexpensive in the basic version. Particularly noteworthy are its very good start-up behavior (already at 2.2 m/s) and its very quiet operation. This means that the plant can also be built in residential areas.

For grid-parallel operation, Grid inverters Smart!wind and Power One series (2.5 kW – 10.0 kW), whose characteristic curve is matched to the ANTARIS small wind turbine and the local wind conditions. This means that grid-parallel operation with the respective grid inverter can also be implemented for low-wind areas. Particularly important here is the optimal coordination of generator and wind inverter. The inverters have a corresponding declaration of conformity and are approved for grid-parallel operation, the ENS is already integrated. Inverter communication is via USB/RS 232….. Interfaces. Due to the cooperative and constructive cooperation between Smart Power Electronics GmbH & Co. KG and BRAUN Windturbinen GmbH, in the course of years of field tests, continuous technical development with regard to the ANTARIS Wind Turbine and the turbine software of the Smart!wind.

If the ANTARIS is used in heating mode , a control cabinet with control electronics takes over the optimal wind curve guidance, coupled with a heating element of 6000 watts.

The yaw bearing is designed as a double-bearing plain bearing and is equipped with lubrication nipples for re-greasing. The supporting element with generator and wind vane boom is completely HT-galvanized (see picture gallery). Since the power is dissipated directly to the consumer, a flexible cable is required within the pole.

Storm protection: When the maximum power is reached, the ANTARIS small wind turbine goes into helicopter position (see picture gallery) to reduce the attack surface of the wind. In addition, the control electronics in the control cabinet monitor the system voltage and brake the wind turbine when the maximum voltage is reached via brake resistors (3.5 – 12 kW ). This variant has clear advantages over the generator short circuit, as the repeller is not really interrupted in its rotational movement. This ultimately results in an improvement in the overall efficiency of the small wind turbine.

As an option, the ANTARIS is also available with slip rings for current dissipation and maintenance-free yaw bearing with double ball bearings (permanently lubricated).
