BRAUN Wind Turbines’ commitment is wide-ranging in supporting the necessary rethinking towards renewable energy sources – especially among the young generation. For example, the company was happy to provide the Kronshagen Gymnasium with an ANTARIS 6.0 small wind turbine for its Schulwind project group. The students want to build a wind turbine on the site to motivate people, the young and older generations, for renewable energies and to show that young people also want to and can change something. The students determined that their school could generate about 7000 kilowatt hours of electricity per year with the wind turbine and thus save about eight tons of carbon dioxide. With this idea, the students won first prize in the “Jes” competition (Youth Energy Fun) at the new energy husum in 2011. At this year’s new energy husum, the nine students presented the winning project – the small wind turbine from BRAUN – to the patron of the youth competition, Schleswig-Holstein’s Minister of the Environment Juliane Rumpf.
