4,000 EURO purchase bonus for electric cars from May 2016!

The purchase bonus is awarded on a first-come, first-served basis.
The program is to start as early as May – after a corresponding cabinet decision.
It is to expire when the subsidy is used up – but no later than 2019.

The most important decisions at a glance:

• For pure e-cars , there will be subsidies of a maximum of 4,000 euros.
• Hybrids with an additional combustion engine will be subsidized with 3,000 euros per vehicle.
• The bonus system is scheduled to start in mid-May 2016.
• The expansion of charging stations will be funded with 300 million euros.
• The costs of 1.2 billion euros will be shared equally by the federal government – i.e. the taxpayers – and the manufacturers.
• Premiums will only be possible for models with a list price of no more than 60,000 euros for a basic model.
